SPANISH ELECTION
EXCITEMENT IN PROVINCES. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 8.20 p.m.) Madrid, June 24. With the approach of the general election on Sunday excitement is growing in the provinces. A mob of 200, after disarming the Municipal Guard in a small town near Seville, deposed the Mayor, seizing the mace and keys. A crowd of villagers in the province of Ciudad Real smashed the instruments of a band which refused to play revolutionary airs. REPUBLICAN IDOL INJURED. (Rec. 11.5 p.m.) London, June 25. A message from Seville states that Major Franco, who has been a Republican hero since King Alfonso’s overthrow, sustained critical injuries caused through the collapse of a platform from which he was addressing a political meeting at Lordebrio. Twenty occupants of the platform were flung down, several being seriously injured.
