WYNDHAM NEWS
(From Our Correspondent.) There was a large and representative gathering of district friends and well-wishers present at the Mimihau Public Hall on Monday evening on the occasion of a kitchen evening to Miss Vera McCaughan in view of her approaching marriage to Mr William McKay, of Wyndham. The time was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Mrs W. 0. and Miss Leckie, while the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr John Woods. During the evening items were contributed by Mr T. Skinner, Misses P. Winn and Nelson and Mr Con. Mr John Woods asked Miss McCaughan’s acceptance of a large and assorted array of useful gifts, at the same time referring to the many fine qualities of the recipient. In conclusion, he wished Miss McCaughan every luck, health and happiness in future life. Mr McKay suitably made acknowledgment. Mr M. Leith, Invercargill, commences duties as rector of the Wyndham District High School on July 1. The Rev. J. T. Paddison, of Gore, will take up the service in St. Mary's Church, Wyndham, on Sunday next, in exchange with the Rev, J. A. G. Simpson. Mr and Mrs A. Mclntosh, Clinton, are the guests of Mr and Mrs A. G. Ward, Edendaln.
