AUSTRALIAN AIR MAIL
NEW SERVICE INAUGURATED.
(United Press Assn.—-By Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, April 4.
The first Australian air mail left Croydon at 8.30 a.m. carrying a total of 50,000 letters, 35,000 being ordinary weekly mail for India and Central Africa. The remaining 15,000 are the first consignment for Australia. This is considered a splendid response and indicates that the public is showing a national interest in the experiment.
