VISIT TO NELSON

THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL. ADDRESS TO SCHOOL CHILDREN. (Per United Frees Association.) Nelson, December 18. Beautiful weather has prevailed for the visit of the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe and various local institutions have been visited. Addressing 1400 school children, his Excellency said that both her Excellency and himself were particularly glad to be there that sun-shining morning and to have the opportunity of saying a few words to the children of the primary schools. Both were especially glad to find their young friends from the Convent School associating with those who belonged to Protestant denominations (applause.) It evinced the spirit of Christian fellowship and brotherhood which they ought to do all in their power to maintain and develop. The party left for Motueka this afternoon, visiting Takaka to-morrow and returning to connect with the evening’s boat for Wellington.
