MR OSCAR GARDEN

VISIT TO HAMILTON. ACCORDED CIVIC RECEPTION. (Per United Press Association.) Hamilton, December 17. Oscar Garden, the airman, arrived nt Hamilton from Auckland this afternoon and was accorded a civic reception. He was met at the aerodrome by representatives of the Aero Club and by the member for the district (Mr F. Lye, M.P.). Garden, accompanied by Captain Haig, left by plane for Rotorua later in the afternoon.

ARRIVAL IN ROTORUA

GREETED BY BIG CROWD. Rotorua, December 17. Oscar Garden, with Captains Hewitt and Haig, arrived in Rotorua by plane at 3.35 p.m. after a somewhat stormy passage from Hamilton. Tho visitors were met by Flying-Officer Money in the Rotorua Airways plane.. A big crowd gathered at the aerodrome to welcome the visitors. All the machines made a perfect landing in the teeth of a strong wind. The party were met by the Mayor, Mr T. Jackson, and by Mr J. D. Davys (president of the Rotorua Airways) and escorted to the Grand Hotel where they were informally greeted by the citizens'. A civic reception followed and, later, a banquet at. the Grand Hotel by the Rotorua Aero Club was given in Mr Garden’s honour.
