WOOL RESEARCH
MASSEY COLLEGE WORK.
VISITING EXPERT IMPRESSED.
(Per United Press Association.)
Palmerston North, December 8.
The extent and the thoroughness of the wool research work being carried out at the Massey. College surprised Lord Barnby, a noted wool expert, when he visited the college and he prolonged his stay because of his deep, interest, discussing for over three hours with Professor Perin and the eight members of the wool research staff the details of the experiments in hand to improve the New Zealand wools. Lord Barnby told an interviewer that the work carried out was an eye-opener and that no praise was too high for it. He had made very minute investigations into the scientific research activities and was convinced that the staff was proceeding on the right lines. The ultimate result of their investigations should be of'considerable benefit not only to wool grotvers but also to the textile manufacturers. The location, surroundings and general appearance of the College buildings also favourably impressed the visitor, who said it denoted an earnest desire on the part of the Government to foster the highest aims of agriculture. Professor Perin said the staff had profited considerably by the views expressed by Lord Barnby, who had approached the subject from the manufacturers’ viewpoint.
