UNUSUAL PROSECUTION
BROUGHT BY FATHER AGAINST SON.
CASE ADJOURNED BY MAGISTRATE.

Auckland, October 20. An unusual private prosecution was heard in the Police Court to-day when Frederick Charles Broun charged his crippled son, Frederick Robert Broun, with being idle and disorderly and having insufficient means of support. /.s soon as the case was called DetectiveSergeant McHugh entered the witness-box and said, “This boy is quite a good boy and should never be charged with such an offence. I live two doors, away and I know.”
The Magistrate (Mr , Hunt): But I’m told he’s been abusing his mother. Detective-Sergeant McHugh’ replied that the trouble was that the boy could not get a job. He added that the other .neighbours also knew the'circumstances and had asked him to give evidence for the boy. The Magistrate, jvithout comment, adjourned the case for a fortnight.
