FIERCE STORM
DAMAGE IN CHRISTCHURCH.
(Per United Tress Association.)
Christchurch, October 20. A fierce south-west storm last evening caused considerable damage in the city. Two sheets of iron were blown off a twostorey house in Bealcy Avenue, smashing the telephone lines and the occupants had a hard task to cover the hole with tarpaulin in the raging gale. Elsewhere skylights were broken and a chimney dislodged. Two yachts capsized in Lyttelton Harbour and their occupants had to be rescued by other vessels.
