WORST FOR YEARS CANADIAN PRAIRIES SWEPT CONSIDERABLE LOSS OF LIFE (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Vancouver, October 17. At least ten people are dead and several are missing, and heavy damage is reported, particularly through millions of bushels o! grain having to be abandoned in the fields, as a result of the worst snowstorm that has swept the Canadian prairies for many years. A Regina farmer found five men frozen to death in an automobile. Six others who were in cars were rescued, and are expected to recover. Three school children are being sought by search parties, who are using ropes to prevent the members going astray. FURTHER DEATHS ! REPORTED MOTORISTS SUCCUMB IN CARS. ii ■ s (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Winnipeg, October 17. Six deaths were recorded to-day in the wake of a blizzard that raked the prairie provinces for three daj’s. Five men died from the exposure of gas generated from motor cars in snow-bound limousines on the outskirts of Regina. Another was killed when a car overturned in a drift near Calgary. Five men had been picked up by another motorist when their own cars stalled. Two were found in a delirious condition in the death car.
