CRICKET
EASTERN—NORTHERN ASSOCIATION.
MEETING AT GORE.
There was a special meeting of the Eastern—Northern Cricket Association held in Gore on Saturday evening when Mr W. McGoldrick presided and outlined the reasons for calling the meeting. Two new chibs, Edievale and Wyndham, had applied for affiliation, said the chairman, and the question had arisen as to the best, method of running a competition in order to overcome the difficulty of travel.
The secretary, Mr C. L. King, outlined a scheme for dividing the competition into two districts, grouping the Lumsden, Pukerau, Waikaia, Waikoixoi and Edievale teams in the northern section, and Gore (2), Celtic (2), Mataura and Wyndham in the southern section. /'
Several country delegates opposed the scheme on the ground that it created a hardship for their teams in travel, whereas the southern section teams had practically no travelling. After further discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr A. G. Valentine, to include all the affiliated clubs in one competition and that one round be played.
