BOXING
NORMAN GILLESPIE ARRIVES. TO MEET JOHNNY LECKIE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, September 23. -Under engagement to the Napier Boxing Association Norman Gillespie, lightweight champion of Australia, arrived by the Maunganui to-day. accompanied by his manager Sammy Chapman. Gillespie is to meet Johnny Leckie at Napier on October 4. They have met before in New Zealand in a match at Dunedin in 1928 and a good deal of interest has been caused by the prospect of a second fight. On the last occasion Leckie won narrowly on points. In his time Gillespie has held ..five titles, bantam, feather and lightweight championships of Victoria, and feather and lightweight championships of Australia. He knocked out Jack Roberts for the title earlier in the year. Gillespie goes to Napier to-morrow.
