DRUMMOND NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) The final of a series of euchre socials, run under the auspices of the Drummond Public Library, was held in the public hall last week. The attendance was above the average, and after about two hours of interesting play it was found that Mesdames Roberts, Jones and Hallum had each scored an equal number of points, Mrs Hallum ultimately winning, whilst Messrs A. Ritchie and Ernie Roberts tied for the men's prize, the former being the winner. The aggregate prizes for the month went to Mrs Roberts and Mr J. Kincaid. An aggregate prize for ladies, donated by Mr James Smith, was won by Mrs D. Jones, and an aggregate prize for men, donated by Mr T. A. Shearer, went to Mr R. Bice. After the above prizes had been presented Mr J. Kincaid, on behalf of the Library Committee, thanked all those who had worked so hard for the success of the undertaking, especially mentioning Messrs Smith and Shearer for their generous donations towards the prizes. On behalf ’of the committee the speaker also expressed the warm.-hearted appreciation of the services rendered by Mrs Watts. He had much pleasure in asking her to accept a box of handkerchiefs as a slight token of esteem and for the time and energy she had devoted, and which had added to the harmony-and success of the functions. A presentation was also made to Mr D. Jones for his services as musician, the gift taking the form of a hand-painted rosebowl. The funds of the library will benefit very materially as a result of the socials held throughout the winter.
