TISBURY DAIRY FACTORY.

To the Editor. Sir, —The report of the annual meeting of the Tisbury Dairy Factory published in the Times on the 16th inst. states that an increase has been made in the honorarium of the chairman of directors. I submit, Sir, the time is inopportune to grant an increase of this nature; under the present state of affairs. A reduction in the place of an increase would have been more fitting. I feel quite sure that if the parties responsible for this increase were depending entirely on the returns from the operations of their cowbyre for their bread and butter, they will agree that the suppliers are considerably overburdened already and in many cases find it difficult to carry on successfully, consequently any move in the direction of reducing their overhead expenses would be beneficial to the dairy farmer at the present time. Hence my objection to the increase referred to. Perhaps it is not generally known that the position of a director of a dairy factory is considered to be purely of an honorary nature and receives no remuneration whatever for services rendered in the interests of his fellow supplier.—l am, etc., A FEMALE SHAREHOLDER.
