BLUFF NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) Mrs J. Hamilton, of Foyle street, and Mrs J. Smith, of Invercargill, left Bluff by the Port Caroline on Saturday for a trip to the north. The ladies will remain with the vessel while it calls at Timaru, Lvttelton, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Auckland and Wellington, returning to Southland from the latter port. As fine weather prevails at present the voyage should be a most enjoyable one. The Fire Brigade held its weekly euchre tournament in the Athenaeum on Saturday night in the presence of a good attendance. Arrangements were in the capable hands of Mr W. Gilson and the evening passed pleasantly, the winners being as follows: Ladies, Mrs A. Tall first, Mrs M. Joss second; men, Mr L. Mortimer first and Mr Durant second. Throughout the season these tournaments have been very popular, and interest in them remains very keen. The ketch Scout made a brief call at the port on Saturday. She came from Pegasus for the purpose of landing Mrs B. Bailey, who required medical attention.
