ANGLICAN CARNIVAL

SPRING SALE AT GORE. The spring sale organized by the Gore Anglican Church for the purpose, of raising funds to lessen the debt cn the tennis courts opened last night. The Town Hall presented a gay scene decorated with shrubs and flowers. The various stalls did a thriving business, and there can be no doubt that the first night was a success. The vicar , (the Rev. J. Paddison) in his opening remarks stated that they required £3OO and he expected that the results from the carnival would help considerably. He thanked Mrs W. D. Shelton for organizing such an excellent entertainment and also the Dominion Electric Company for the use of the wireless set. He concluded by thanking the stall-holders for the trouble they had taken to ensure success and hoped the visitors would enjoy themselves. hTe following was the programme for the half-hour entertainment organized by Mrs Shelton; Concerted song and dance, M. Lange, B. White, D. Crawford and W. Gerken; recitation, Miss W. Columb; Highland reel, H. Smith, W. Gerken, M. Heads, E. Stephenson; duo dance, Margaret and Phyllis Lange; song, Mr L. Stevenson; Russian duo, Dorothy Crawford and B. White; humorous song, Mr G. Paterson; Irish reel, M. Lange, D. Crawford, M. Smith and B. White.
