GORE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At Thursday night's meeting of the Gore School Committee there were present Messrs D. A. Dunn (chairman), 11. R. Robertson (secretary), R. T. Weir, A. L. Dolaniore, J. Harper, 11. C. Mac Gibbon and Dr. J. J.. Gresham. Mr J. McK. Miller (headmaster) was also associated with the committee.
The headmaster's report- for the past four weeks stated that the school had reopened for the final term of the year with a roll number of 455. The attendance, despite some sickness among the younger pupils, had been very good, averaging 432, a percentage of 94.9. Four new subscribers to the savings bank had been enrolled, and deposits for two weeks totalled about £B. In the school grounds digging and jiruning had been carried out and it was hoped .soon to have the garden sown; hedges had been trimmed; all the shrubs were quite healthy, • despite the severe winter. The board’s workmen at present were carrying out alterations to the guard at the cellar entrance, thus making the locality safer for the children. The whole of the premises had received thorough scrubbing and disinfecting during the vacation, and the daily cleaning continued to give every satisfaction.
