MEDALS FOR BRAVERY

PRESENTATIONS AT APIA.

(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Apia, June 3. The Administrator, Colonel Allen, presented Royal Humane Society (New Zealand) medals to three Niueans, Lenipoe Lanifole, Faletule and Tokelauan Paeata for bravery in saving life at the wreck of the Norwich City at Gardner Island on November 30 and December 4 last.

The Administrator, in congratulating the men and pinning the medals to their coats, said that they were the first recipients of the medals in Samoa. He also presented each man with a bank book showing a credit of £33 at the Post Office bank. At the same time two members of the crew and an Ellis Islander, Misinari, received £45 and a medal, and a Niuean, Haletama, £35 and a medal.
