BRANCH FORMED AT GORE. ' < : ADDRESS BY ORGANIZER. The nroposal to form a Women’s Institute at Gore has been taken up most enthusiastically. On Tuesday afternoon there was a splendid attendance at the Gaiety Hall, where Miss M. Stops, England, organizer for Women’s Institutes, gave a highly entertaining address on the aims and objects of the institutes. These were homemaking, co operation and citizenship. Their mottos were: “For Home and Country.” and “If you know a good thing pass it on.” Miss Stops said that already there were 115 institutes in New Zealand, with approximately 5000 members. Those present were treated to a display of homecrafts which Miss Stops brought from" various institutes in the Homeland. Some beautiful work was shown which gained prizes at the London Exhibition, and some of which was done by Miss Stops herself, among which were beautiful scenes worked in silk. At the conclusion of the address, it was unanimously resolved to form a local institute. Mrs J. Craigie (Waikaka) was appointed secretary. The following committee was set up: Mesdames D. L. Poppelwell, E. G. Wilson, H. E. Bacon, W. A. Garrick and Miss Mac Gibbon. It was decided to hold meetings on the third Tuesday in each month.
