BRITISH SUBMARINES
FLOTILLA FOR THE PACIFIC.
DEPARTURE THIS WEEK
(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.)
London, May 18.
"The departure for China on May 24 of the British 0 class submarines with the mothership Medway, forming the nucleus of the Fifth Submarine Flotilla, will be an important naval occasion,” says the Observer. “From the Medway downward every keel will bo now, while the flotilla will be the most powerful force of submarines under the White Ensign when at full strength which it will be when joined by the still newer P boats, generally resembling the 0 class, but having a 21 knots faster surface speed. When based at Hong Kong both the officers and crews will live comfortably on board the Medway, which is more like a liner than any other naval vessel”
