NEW ARMY CHIEF

AUSTRALIAN APPOINTMENT. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 9.50 p.m.) Melbourne, May 2. Major-General W. A. Coxen, C. 8., C.M.G., has been appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Australian Army. He is regarded "as the finest quartermaster-general the army ever had. He raised and took from Australia to the Great War the Royal Australian Seige Brigade, and during 1918 on the Western Front commanded a great aggregation of artillery.
