BRADMAN’S DEBUT

CRICKET IN ENGLAND

A BRILLIANT DOUBLE CENTURY Australians’ easy win (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) London, May 1. The brilliant double century by Bradman was the feature of the second day’s play in the match between the Australians and Worcestershire. His effort amazed the spectators, and he treated the bowlers with scant respect. Pasting the ball to all parts of the field, he reached his century in 120 minutes. Woodfull, upon obtaining his hundred, became reckless and attacked the weak bowling. He went out in attempting a big hit. He and Bradman put on 200 in just over two hours. The New South Wales colt, assisted by Richardson, McCabe and a’Beckett, made his total 200 after 255 minutes at the crease. He went out like Woodfull in attempting to lift the ball out of the ground.

Bradman batted 276 minutes and hit 28 4’s, giving. only one chance, which was after he had passed his second hundred. His score is the highest ever compiled against Worcester. He drove with great power and presented an impregnable defence. With two hours left to play, Worcester

lost four wickets before stumps were drawn. A message from London dated yesterday states that the weather was beautiful and the wicket good when play was resumed. Worcester in the second innings made 196, the Australians winning by an innings and 165 runs. Following are the scores:—
