ABOUT PEOPLE
Mr J. S. Robbie and Mr R. F. Greenwood left by car yesterday for an extended tour of the South Island. Mr A. E. Hefford, Chief Inspector of Fisheries, arrives in Invercargill from the north by this evening's express. Mr Alfred W. Jones, of Auckland, and Mr Maurice Smith, of Martinborough, are among the passengers by the Hinemoa for the West Coast Sounds trip. A gathering of twenty-eight members of the Southend Tennis Club met in the pavilion on Tuesday night to bid farewell to their hon. treasurer, Mr H. A.. Ferguson, who has resigned owing to his appointment to the position of Town Clerk of Bluff. In making the presentation of a fine leather suitcase the president, Mr Manson, referred to the excellent work Mr Ferguson had done during his five years’ term of office as treasurer.
