ABOUT PEOPLE MINISTERIAL. Sir Apirana Ngata, Minister of Native Affairs, and party arrived in Invercargill by the express yesterday morning. The party travelled to Colac Bay and Tuatapere. yesterday afternoon and expect to depart for Dunedin by the afternoon express to-day. Mr A. F. Hogg returned to Invercargill by the express last evening. Mr A. L. Adamson paid a flying visit to Dunedin yesterday, returning by the evening’s express. Mr R. Timpany, who has been on a visit to Dunedin, returned to Invercargill by the express last evening. Mr J. Pickard, district railways traffic manager, left for Christchurch by the express last evening to attend a conference of railway managers. Mr P. W. J. Cockrill, of the local Courthouse staff, returned from Riverton last evening. Mr Cockrill has been acting in a relieving capacity at Riverton during the past week. Mr Guy Norman Morris, solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, has been appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate (states a Press Association message from Wellington). A Gazette last night announces the appointment of the Chief Justice, Mr M. Myers, to the first and second division of the Court of Appeal in place of the late Sir Charles Skerrett (states a Press Association message from Wellington). A Press Association message from Wellington states that Mr William P. Cochran’s appointment as Vice-Consul of the United States of America at Wellington has been recognized by the Governor-General, according to a Gazette notice. A Press Association message from Napier states that loading operations on the Remuera were held up yesterday, watersiders refusing to go aboard till a clean bill of health was given.
