SURPLUS WHEAT

WORLD’S AVAILABLE SUPPLY. (Rec 10.15 p.m.) Washington, June 5. The Department of Agriculture, reviewing the wheat situation, states that although discomforting to farmers it is not hopeless. There is now evidence of a tendency for prices to rise, but heavy' marketings of new wheat and favourable crop reports may again temporarily depress prices. The review adds that there was indicated an increase in the world’s available wheat supply on May 1, of 115,000,000 bushels over last season, and the surplus in the principal exporting countries exceeds by 125,000,000 bushel® that of 1928. —Australian Press Association.
