GOBE CHAT (From Our Correspondent.) Mrs C. R. Green has returned from an enjoyable motor trip through the North Island. The Misses Playfair have returned to Gummies Bush. Mi;s Frank Reid has returned to Dunedin. Miss Gibbs has returned from Hastings. Mr and Mrs H. A. Price have returned from an enjoyable holiday spent at Wellington. Mr and Mrs L. C. Hawk have returned from Wellington. Mrs F. V. Piper has returned from Christchurch. Miss Margaret Crawford has returned to Invercargill. Miss Molly Rogers has returned to Christchurch. Miss Mabel Mac Gibbon has returned from Invercargill. Mrs G. 11. Lang, who has been on a visit to’her sister Mrs Q. Hubener, Mataura, has' returned to Palmerston North. Mrs Mangan (Lumsden) was the guest of Mrs Little, Howard Street for a few days. Mrs Robert. Aitken was hostess at two, most enjoyable bridge parties at her residence, Ardwick Street, on the afternoon and evening last Thursday. Some of those present were Mesdames J. McK. Miller, H. R. Miss Valinai Tangney, Invercargill, who i has been visiting Mrs M. Tangney, Ferry I St., Wyndham has returned home. A successful dance under the management of the Wyndham and District St. . Andrews Scottish Society was held in the Masonic Hall on Friday evening, when there was a good attendance. Excellent music for dancing was supplied by Lukie’s Orchestra, while acceptable extra dances were played by Mr J. Halliday, Edendale. Mr J. Young proved an efficient M.C. A pleasant function took place at the residence of Mrs A. Strang, Alma Street, Wyndhafn, on Friday evening, when members of the Presbyterian Church Choir gathered to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs i Colin Guy who are leaving on the “S.S. . ■ Tamaroa” for England. A pleasant even- ; ing was spent with games and music and at a suitable interval the Rev J. E. Adams asked Mr Guy’s acceptance of a fountain pen as wel las a small departing gift for Mrs Guy. In doing so the speaker referred to the many fine qualities of Mr and Mrs Guy and their worth as members of the choir. In conclusion he wished them every success and happiness in their wanderings across the sea. Mr Guy suitably replied. A dainty supper was dispensed at the conclusion of which Mr Macpherson thanked Mrs Strang for the use of her home for the occasion. Songs during the evening were rendered by Miss Stewart, Mr Lennan and Messrs Stewart and Macpherson. Mr and Mrs Hellyor of Dunedin and Mrs Gardiner of Dunedin arc at present visiting Mr and Mrs D. Wyndham. • Miss G. Simpson, Wyndham is at present visiting Mr ami Mrs A. Simpson Thornbury. Mr and Mrs S. Shaw, Wyndham, are at present visiting Dunedin. Mrs R. Pauli, Wyndham, accompanied by her daughter, is visiting Dunedin. Mr and Mrs D. McLean, Gore, were the guests of Mrs A. Lindsay during the weekend. A very successful Old Timers’ Ball was held in the Mataura Island Hall on Friday evening, there being a good attendance. Excellent music was supplied by Lukie’s Orchestra, while the duty of Floor Master was capably carried out by Mr M. Richardson.
