RIVERTON BOROUGH.
To the Editor.
Sir, —In your report, May 8, of special meeting held on Monday evening—the Mayor is reported to have said that: “It had been said that the ratepayers in the South Ward had not received a fair deal.” He then referred to the rates, stating that a few years back the rates in the South Ward were £BO and in the North Ward £lBO. I cannot say how far back the Mayor was alluding to, but it must have been when Mrs Noah got out of the Ark. In 1920 the rates collected in the South Ward—£4ss 9/3, North Ward—£3Bs 10/2. The ratepayers’ complaint must be a very real one. The South Riverton Ratepayers’ Association is a live body and means business —which I think it proved on the last election day. It behoves every ratepayer in the South Ward to link up with us and see that in future we do get a few spoonfuls of gravel on our roads and streets. NRemember, union is strength.—l am, etc., H. L. HUNT, Secretary S.R.R.A.
