BUSHMAN FOUND DEAD. (Per United Tress Association.) Taumarunui, May 10. James Madden, aged thirty-five, a bushman, was found dead in bed at Ellis and Burnand’s bush, near Ongarua, this morning by a mate who occupied a whare with deceased. CRUSHED BY SHEET OF IRON. Wellington, May 10. Severe’ injuries were sustained by E. Allen and Peter Jorgensen at Cable and Company’s Foundry when a hook with which they were lifting a sheet of iron gave way. Allen’s left thigh and right arm were fractured and he also suffered facial abrasions, while Jorgensen sustained a lacerated wound on the right knee and injuries to the back and left shoulder. DEATH FROM GUNSHOT WOUND. Christchurch, May 10. William Douglas, aged 55, married, was found dead at his residence this morning with a shotgun lying beside his body. At the inquest it was revealed that Douglas, who was manager of a coffee stall, was given a cup of tea by his wife at 8 o’clock and when called for breakfast an Jirnr later said he would be down in a few n\nutes. A muffled report was heard and, on investigation, he was found dead from a wound in the right side of the head. A verdict was returned of death from a gunshot wound self-inflicted. CHILD DROWNED. Nelson, May 10. A dietreajing fatality occurred at Tahunanui about midday to-day when Joseph Boyce, aged three years, a son of J. Boyce, fell from Rocks Road into the water and was drowned. Artificial respiration was applied, but without result.
