ALLEGED SLANDER
CLOTHING MERCHANT SUED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 10. The case before Mr Justice MacGregor when lan Meiklejohn Matheson, clothing manufacturer of Wellington, sued Henry Schneideman, a merchant also of Wellington, for £5OO damages for alleged slander was adjourned till to-morrow after the evidence of plaintiff had been heard. Defendant was to purchase plaintiff’s stock and defendant alleged that plaintiff had wilfully overstated the stock sheets in his (plaintiff’s) favour. Defendant denied the allegation and alternatively privilege.
