ECLIPSE OF THE SUN
HINDUS’ CUSTOMS OBSERVED. Delhi, May 10. Throughout India orthodox Hindus observed time-honoured customs in connection with the partial eclipse of the sun. The bathing ghats at Calcutta were thronged by tens of thousands, it being obligatory to fast during the eclipse, bathe in the Ganges and feed and give presents to beggars.— United Service.
