GORE STOCK SALE

A FAIR MARKET. Large entries of sheep continue to come forward at Eastern District stock sales, and at the fortnightly sale at Gore, yesterday, few pens were unoccupied. There was a large attendance of district farmers and, considering the general quality of the yarding, the market was fairly good, prices remaining about on a par with those ruling at last week’s sales. There is still a good inquiry for ewe lambs, and medium sorts yesterday brought from 23/3 to 25/7. All the lines of two-tooth ewes on offer were on the small side, medium quality selling at from 33/7 up to 35/-, and poorer and weedy sorts from 27/- to 30/-. Lines of guaranteed sound-mouth ewes were in good demand, well-grown sorts realizing from 29/- to 30/3, and medium quality from 23/- to 26/-. Lines of good full and failing-mouth ewes also met with a fair sale, prices being about, equal to those lately ruling. National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd.: One fat wether at 43/-; 2 fat ewes at 17/-; 1 do. at 16/-; 2 fat wethers at 29/6; 9 fat ewes at 19/-; 31 f.m. ewes at 8/9; 35 ewe lambs at 23/3; 41 4-th ewes passed at 26/3; 285 guaranteed s.m. ewes at 29/3; 46 cull m.s. lambs at 17/10; 57 f. and f.m. ewes at 23/-; 33 f.m. ewes at 15/3; 222 f. and f.m. ewes at 22/5; 74 forward wether lambs at 23/2; 107 f.m. ewes at 17/7; 84 do. at 13/6; 60 f. and f.m. ewes at 18/4. In conjunction with J. G. Ward and Co., Ltd., the firm offered and sold 140 small two-tooth tussock ewes at 27/4; 226 s. and f.m. ewes at 26/6. National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd.: Two fat bullocks at £l7 17/6; 2 fat cows at £8 2/6; 1 fat heifer passed at £5 15/-; 1 do. at. £8; 1 fat cow passed at £ll 15/-.
