LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
WINTON BOROUGH
NOMINATIONS CLOSI:
MR J. A. BROOM RE-ELECTED.
Nominations for the office of Mayor of Winion and for the six seats on the council closed yesterday.
For the Mayoralty, Mr J. A. Broom was the only candidate nominated and he was therefore declared elected. There were six nominations for the council, and this being the number required, the following were declared elected: John Brown. Henry Cooper. Peter Gow. Neil Metzger. Robert Crawford Stenhouse. Arthur Watt.
SOUTH INVERCARGILL.
mr w. McChesney mayor.
Only one nomination was received for the office of Mayor of South Invercargill, that of Mr William McChesney. He was declared elected.
The nomination of William !•’. Young as a councillor representing the outer ward was received and he was declared elected. No nominations of candidates to represent the other wards were received. Fresh advertisements calling for nominations will have to be inserted.
QUEENSTOWN
(From Our Correspondent.)
The nominations for mayoralty and election of borough councillors closed at Queenstown on Thursday. Mr W. H. Overton was elected unopposed for Mayor (second term).
The following were nominated for the council:—Dr. W. A. Anderson, Messrs A. Scheib, R. Gilkison junr., A. McCaughan, Thomas Rutherford (sitting members), F. St. Omer, E. J. Ix>wen, T. H. Tallentire, J. Cockburn, D. Hamilton and J. Thompson, junr. As there are two over the number required there will be an election on Wednesday, May 1.

The nominations for the Mayoralty are: Messrs R. A. Troup and W. A. Nash. There are 35 nominations for the 15 seats on the council.
