STOCK SALE

FIRM PRICES AT RIVERSDALE. There was a very large attendance of buyers at yesterday’s stock sale at Riversdale. Farmers were present from all parts of the Eastern District while several outside buyers were also in attendance. Tho» market which has recently shown a firming tendency remained steady, prices being about on a par with those ruling at the McNab and Balfour sales earlier in the week. There was a very keen inquiry for ewe lambs, good quality realizing from 27/to 28/,4. One line of exceptionally fine lambs offered by J. B. Watson and Co. Ltd. on account of Mr C. Sterling, “The Dome,” realized 31/3 and were purchased by Mr D. Windall. Good 2-tooth ewes brought up to 37/8 but the quality of most of the lots offering was not above the average and several lines were passed in. There was a good inquiry for 4, (i and 8-tooth ewes and well-grown, well-woollcd sorts brought from 26/10 to 29/2. Lines of good full and failing mouth ewes were also sought after, and realized from 19/- to 22/6. Sales were: —
