“There are plenty of honest solicitors in Wellington,” remarked Mr Justice Ostler in the Wellington Supreme Court the other day (says the Evening Post). His Honor’s observation was prompted by the complaint of an elderly lady that the solicitor who had been acting for her had made an incorrect statement on her behalf, and had then refused to do anything more for her. Later in the proceedings the lady asserted that she had had great difficulty in engaging a solicitor to act for her in a case in which the Public Trustee was concerned. His Honour (smilingly) : “I don’t think solicitors in Wellington have any objection to taking action against the Government.” Several of the solicitors in court smiled.
