WOMAN FINED
SHOP USED AS GAMING HOUSE. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, October 16. Mrs Ellen .Walker was charged in the Police Court with keeping her premises known as the Regent Tobacconists at Epsom as a common gaming house. She pleaded guilty. Chief-Detective Hammond said that accused had laid wagers and doubles with a constable but was only in a small way of business. Counsel for accused said she had been in difficulties and had done some betting to help herself along. A fine of £lO was imposed.
