LUCKY ESCAPE
TRAIN HITS MOTOR. ‘ (Per United Press Association.) Hamilton, October 16. The Auckland-Rotorua express struck a motor at the Claudelands level crossing this afternoon and carried it about 130 yards, completely wrecking it. The train backed to release the impaled car and the driver, Leo Lafferty, of Frankton, aged 26, single, was then thrown out. He had a remarkable escape from death. The hosnital reports that his injuries are apparently only slight.
