RUMANIAN DECREE
HUNGARIANS TO GO EXPULSION ORDER ISSUED WIDESPREAD DESTITUTION. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) London, October 15. The Budapest correspondent of the Daily Mail says that the Rumanian authorities have issued a decree authorizing the expulsion of 650,000 Hungarians from Transylvania, including almost all the employees of the sugar and leather factories, owing to adverse economic conditions. Destitution is so widespread in Transylvania that only the influence of the leaders of the National Peasant Party has averted serious disturbances, but M. Maniu, the peasants’ leader, declared last week that the people’s patience was ended and the country was ready for an overthrow of the Government.-—Australian Press Association. HUNGARIAN PROTEST. EXCEPTIONS TO BE MADE. Budapest, October 16. A monster meeting is being organized to protest against the Rumanian Labour Ministry’s decree expelling from Transvlvania 650,000 Hungarian wage-earners, half of whom have become naturalized. Exceptions will be made in the case of those who arrived before 1914, or if they marry Rumanian wives before the end of October. —Australian Press Association.
