CHIEF OF STAFF RESIGNS. Rome, October 15. Owing to ill-health General Armani, Chief of the Aeronautical General Staff, has resigned. Mussolini has appointed Marquis de Pinedo as his successor.—Australian Press Association.
The Marquis de Pinedo made a world flight in a Savoia flying boat in 1925 from Italy to Australia via Bagdad, Bushire, Karachi, Bombay, Madras, Calcutta, Rangoon, Penang, Singapore, Batavia. Kupang, and Broom (Western Australia), arriving at Melbourne on June 17. In June, 1927, de Pinedo completed a 25.000-mile tour, crossing the Atlantic from Italy to America and back.
