COMMANDER BURNEY
RETIREMENT FROM POLITICS. DEVELOPING AIRSHIP LINES. London, October 15. Commander C. D. Burney is not seeking re-election for Parliament as he considers that the calls on his time in endeavouring to develop Empire airship communication are so great that he ought, in fairness to his constituents, resign in favour of a less busy candidate. He has communicated his intentions to Mr Baldwin who has agreed in view of the tremendous importance of the airship scheme. —Australian Press Association—United Service. At the general election in 1924 Commander Burney (Conservativel was elected for Axbridge (Middlesexl by a majority of 5,066 over a Labour candidate.
