LORD LOVA
ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON. (Per Uhitea Press Association.) Wellington, October 15. Lord Lovat, Minister in Charge of Overseas Settlement in the British Government, arrived in Wellington by the New Plymouth express this evening. He was met at the station by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates).. Representatives of the 46 societies which were represented at a deputation to Mr Amery on the subject of immigration when he was in New Zealand will confer with Lord Lovat this morning. Lord Lovat stated to-night that he had been ordered by his medical adviser to take a week’s complete rest before going to Australia and greatly regretted that he would have to abandon his tour in the South Island but had arranged for Mr F. Skevington CsB.E., of the British Treasury Office who has been accompanying him, to visit Christchurch and Dunedin as arranged and fulfil the arrangements already made insofar as matters concerning immigration were concerned. Mr Skevington will keep Lord Lovat’s engagements in Wellington for him and also receive the representatives of the 46 societies which interviewed Mr Amery on the subject of immigration when he was in New Zealand. Lord Lovat’s indisposition is not serious but is the recurrence of a previous minor complaint.
