BALFOUR NOTES. The usual monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Town Hall last Thursday afternoon, Mrs William Orr presiding over an attendance of about 20 ladies. The books for the library have arrived, and intending members should enrol without delay. Tenders for the erection of the cupboards for the books were considered, and a suitable tender accepted. The work will be proceeded with as soon as possible. A vote of thanks to Mrs Asher for her donation towards the books, and also to Mrs Church for her donation towards the cupboards was passed. Miss McDowell, of Gore, was present and gave a demonstration of arts and crafts, show’ing the many articles that can be made with sealing Wax of varying shades worked into many pretty designs. She exhibited a collection of her own making, and also showed the ladies present what can be made with crepe paper. Miss McDowell was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her interesting and instructive address, after which a dainty afternoon tea was kindly provided by Mrs M. Rasmussen and Mrs A. E. Davis was handed round.
