OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP THIRD AND FOURTH ROUNDS MORPETH’S MERITORIOUS WIN (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, October 13. There was a considerable improvement in the weather for the second day’s play of the New Zealand Golf championships. Rain fell overnight and this had a beneficial effect on the fairways and green which was much appreciated by players. In the morning there was a stiff southerly breeze which freshened considerably to the detriment of the late morning starters and the early afternoon starters. The O’Rorke Vase teams match was won by the Otago team, consisting of K. Ross, G. F. Barnett, S. C. Colbeck and D. H. Butcher with an aggregate of 318. Hutt was second with 326. The Jellicoe Cup resulted in a tie between T. H. Horton and E. S. Douglas. This is the first occasion that a professional has had an interest in the cup.
