SECRET TRIALS
DESTROYER FOR CHILE. MARVELS OF ANGLE FIRING. (Rec. 5.5 p.m. i London, October 11. The Admiralty’s submarine experts tomorrow will witness secret trials of the Chilean destroyer built at Thornycrofts and equipped with the latest and fastest 21-inch torpedo. It has a speed of 45 knote and the trials include angle firing, one of the marvels of recent developments, instruments being used to operate the torpedo’s course by which if a ship dodges the torpedo, it turns correspondingly.—Australian Press Association.
