THE ELECTION.

To the Editor. Sir,—I have been wondering for some time past who was to be approached on the matter regarding the Reform candidate for Invercargill. I find many electors in Invercargill are highly pleased that such a wise choice has been made in selecting Mr S. M. Macalister, who is well known, and on account of his many good qualities will make a splendid representative for our town.—l am, etc., HOPEFUL. To the Editor. Sir,—A very large number of the electors of this city will be highly gratified to learn there is a reasonable probability of our young townsman, Mr S. M. Macalister, becoming a candidate for Parliamentary honours at this election. To secure a representative possessing such admirable and varied gifts as Mr Macalister has, would indeed be a most fortunate thing for our city. We want more young New Zealanders in Parliament with initiative and talents and high ideals, to legislate for the welfare of our young and growing country.—l am, etc.', RESIDENT.
