HIS LAST HOPE
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT. (Special to the Times.) Wellington, October 9. Another door has been closed on J. W. Hope, of Auckland, in his efforts to prove that he is not the right defendant in maintenance proceedings initiated in England and carried through the courts of New Zealand. Hope whose appeal against his last conviction and sentence for disobedience of the Magistrate’s order made against him for the support of his wife, was dismissed in the Supreme Court in Auckland a few weeks ago petitioned Parliament asking for an inquiry into his case. The report of the committee to which the petition was referred came back to the House of Representatives to-day. It said that the committee had no recommendation to make. _____
