TOO MUCH SMOKING

AMERICAN GIRLS AND WOMEN, AUSTRALIAN SURGEON’S WARNING. (Rec. 7.50 p.m.) New York, October 10. A message from Boston states that Dr. Schlink, of the Royal Prince Albert Hospital, Sydney, who is attending the Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons here, stated that American girls and women were seriously injuring their health and beauty by excessive cigarette smoking. Women who smoke incessantly become extremely nervous, neurotic and typical nerve subjects for hospitals and specialists. He added: “However, smoking and drinking in moderation will not affect women, but it seems that they smoke continuously because they have all day to do it.”—Australian Press Association.
