WAKAPATU LANDS.

To the Editor. Sir, —In your issue of the 9th appears another epistle of seven verses from "Senob” in answer to mine of the 3rd., which I will acknowledge as briefly as possible. 1. Thanks, “Senob.” It is a relief to know that it is not quite. “Help yourself,” as your first letter would imply, if it were so. I don’t doubt I would come off second best. 2. I suggested nothing. I asked a plain question. 3. Whether I can answer the question or not does not relieve you or the reporter. The reporter’s statement first was taken exception to, although I believe he only did as he was told and never looked for himself. You, “Senob,” as a passer-by mind you, lamely tried to bolster his statement bj’ mean insinuations against the attempt made by the early settlers at opening up the bush and improving their holdings. As most of the first lessees have crossed the Great Divide, and cannot defend themselves, ] take your remarks as particularly mean and show very bad taste. Then you followed it up by an insinuating attack on their sons’ endeavours. Shame, “Senob”; sign your name so as we can see bow you are flourishing and learn. 4. j\gain I made a statement. Thanks for the law on it. 5. Vindictive. Certainly not; at anyrate towards decent people, but towards those who would belittle them and their parents; will try them if you like. 6. What do you know about the settlers’ position here? A passer-by, mind you. What blatant cheek! Had they taken land elsewhere, even Wyndham, they may have landed in the poor house. 7. I am not concerned a bit about your nom de plume. The printer can print it as he likes for my pari.; its not my funeral. —I am, etc., G G. PEARCE. July 7, 1928.
