A SUDDEN CALL

PASSING OF OLD GORE RESIDENT.

EXPIRES IN CHURCH. Shortly after the commencement of the service at the Gore Methodist Church last evening, a member of the congregation in the person of Mr J. Shepherd, suddenly collapsed and expired before medical assistance could be obtained.

The late Mr Shepherd, who resided in Irvine street, West Gore, was an elderly gentleman well-known in the Gore district. He was prominently connected with the church, holding the position of circuit steward for some considerable time. He was also an active member of the New Zealand Alliance Party, being the secretary of the local branch.
