FOUND GUILTY OF MURDER. (Rec. 1.30 a.m.) Melbourne, July 2. In the re-trial, George Gordon was found guilty of the murder of Clemente and was sentenced to death. —Australian Press Association. George Gordon, aged 30, was charged with the murder of an elderly couple, storekeepers, near Bairnsdale, on February 16, named Richard and Catherine Clements. The pair were foully murdered during the night, their heads being battered. The house was ransacked. Gordon lived in the neigh bourhood. His clothes were bloodstained and his finger-prints were on a chest of drawers, giving the chief clue to his arrest and conviction. Gordon's defence was an alibi.
