CANADIAN TARIFF
A SPIRITED ATTACK. Vancouver, June 29. Attacking the Tariff Board’s recommendations in a speech at Sherbrook, Mr Bennett, the Tory leader, declared that New Zealand butter was entering Canada to the detriment of the home producers. The United States, on the other hand, protected the farmers against New Zealand. The United States Government legislated for the United States and protected the farmerr and the industries. Why did Canada not do likewise? “Why are we,” he asked, “legislating for the farmers of New Zealand?”—Australian Press Association.
