INDIAN RIOTS
TEN PERSONS DEAD. MOSLEM PROCESSION ATTACKED. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Delhi, June 30. Ten persons are dead and many injured as the result of a riot between Hindoos and Moslems during, the Moslem Mohurrum procession at Khargpur near Calcutta. The Moslems were carrying the image past a Sikh temple with music when the procession was attacked by the latter. Armed police and troops were called out and quiet was restored but later a Moslem beat a Hindu coolie to death with rods.
A fierce fight ensued between the communities and eight were killed outright. In a fresh outbreak five were killed, including two women.—Australian Press Association.
